The study of the plant remains from the small Tregiovo Basin (NE Italy), one of the few well-dated (Kungurian, late Cisuralian) and diverse fossil plant assemblages in western palaeoequatorial Pangea, provides new insights on the Kungurian floras and on the timing and dynamics of the hygrophytic–xerophytic transition. Moreover, a continental δ13Corg record of a well dated portion of the Kungurian was obtained and possible relationships between the flora composition and potential local environmental factors versus global climatic forcing are suggested.
